The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) was formed in 1909 by a group of white and black citizens appalled at the injustices that some Americans suffered solely because of their race.  

Today, it is the largest and most influential civil rights organization in the country.    To keep pace with changing times, the NAACP has launched a number of dynamic social programs.  These programs are aimed at speeding the march toward victory over racism, hatred, bigotry and poverty.
